INDIA CLUB – AUTHENTIC NORTH INDIAN CUISINE
In 2018 INDIA CLUB became the first Indian restaurant to open its doors at the highest level of international cuisine in the capital. Our guarantee for excellence in North Indian culinary art is embodied by our specially recruited team from India built around Head Chef Manish Bahukhandi, who is internationally recognised as one of the most prominent representatives of Indian “rustic cuisine”. With sojourns in top restaurants such as the “The Oberoi” hotel in New Delhi, the “Taj Mount Road” club in Chennai and, most recently, at the 5-star hotel “The Claridges” in New Delhi, the 38-year-old has long been established among lovers of excellent traditional cuisine. Working by his side is his very own speciality chef for curry dishes and a speciality chef for tandooris, both personally selected by Chef Manish in India.
A speciality of North Indian cuisine is the tandoori dishes. Bread, meat and vegetables are cooked in an authentic tandoori clay oven, helping to preserve vitamins, enhance flavour and increase health. Even without knowing this, you can taste the difference immediately. In keeping with tradition, INDIA CLUB does not serve beef and pork but instead offers chicken, lamb, duck, fish and seafood. The high-quality organic poultry and lamb are sourced exclusively from the “Gut Vorder Bollhagen” organic farm located on Mecklenburg’s Baltic coast near Heiligendamm, which is renowned for its high standards of animal welfare.
Lovers of Indian cuisine usually also enjoy vegetarian food. That’s why INDIA CLUB offers a large selection of vegetarian dishes with countless Indian spices, such as turmeric, ginger, black mustard, cardamom, cumin, saffron, curry, cloves, cinnamon and mint, to name just a few. Of course, our famous Indian curries are homemade at INDIA CLUB, as are our chutneys and naan bread, which is so typical of the country.
The interior exudes both elegance and vivid colour. Whilst the heavy furnishings and exquisite dark mahogany wood panelling evoke the British colonial style, the colours remain distinctly Indian. The lampshades shimmer in pink, yellow, turquoise, green or purple chime with the equally colourful pillows featuring classic Indian floral prints.
