Armit Wines has a reputation as one of the UK’s leading contemporary wine merchants. We are proud of the supply some the finest in the UK, and indeed the world, and offer access to the many iconic producers that we represent exclusively in the UK.
John Armit struck out on his own in 1988 after building a career with some of the longest-established wine merchants in the UK. He pioneered the practice of buying directly from producers and built long-standing relationships with the winemakers themselves. In particular, Armit was at the forefront of building the reputation of Italian fine wine in the UK and established now-household names such as Sassicaia, Ornellaia, and Bruno Giacosa.
Today, our portfolio is renowned for the range of exclusive agencies it holds in Italy even beyond the icons above, such as Querciabella, Tua Rita, Giacomo Fenocchio, Michele Satta, and Il Marroneto. Armit is also recognised as a Bordeaux and Burgundy specialist, representing established figureheads of the fine wine world such as Château Lafleur, Domaine Leflaive, and Domaine de Montille. Beyond Italy and France, Armit has built an impressive global portfolio, including La Rioja Alta S.A., Astrolabe from Marlborough, Digby Fine English, Champagnes Geoffory and Gimonnet, and Matetic in Chile. Not to rest on its laurels, Armit has spent the last year continuing to push the range forward with rising stars such as Domaine Bart and Domaine Trapet-Rochelandet from Burgundy, Davide Fregonese in Piedmont, Momento in South Africa, and Terroir Sense Fronteres in Montsant.
