PONTUS CATERING

Pontus Catering was born as a direct consequence of the success with Pontus in the Green House. The charismatic financier Jan Stenbeck in 1999 hand-picked Pontus for the glorious assignment to run the restaurant in his property in the Old Town. The ambitions were high, when the then 27-year-old Pontus opened the doors to his first business on Österlånggatan 17 in Stockholm.

Pontus, despite his young age, had gained time from work in both Paris and Brussels. The mentor, Erik Lallerstedt, was the one who opened doors for important experience from countries other than Sweden, and it was above all the French cuisine that Pontus liked.

The success of the "green house" was not long in coming. Already the second year, it was appointed Sweden's best restaurant. The following year, Pontus was named Sweden's best restaurateur. The regulars were well-known. The Royal House, led by Princess Lilian, was a recurring guest and the power elite flocked around luxury canapés and caviar.

The assignment to deliver catering to Kinnevik (the company that Jan was CEO of) and their spring dinner off course went to Pontus. The catering became an independent part of the group, and quickly made a name for itself. The clientele were the same as in the ”green house”. The motto became "Nothing is impossible” was added. A motto that still applies, and in addition is the mission of the whole Pontus Group.

Several great chefs and restaurateurs have had Pontus Group as an early workplace. Tommy Myllymäki, Daniel Räms, Tom Sjöstedt and Magnus Nilsson are some of those who after their employment with Pontus have achieved great success with their own businesses.

DNA and history have always been important to the group and are now becoming even more important than ever with the opening of La Tour. For the first time since 2007, when the lamp was switched off for the last time in the Old Town, Pontus again has Fine Dining ambitions, even though they now choose to call it Power Dining.
