Riviera Wellbeing Launches a Weekly Women's Online Group "Connected" - a Safe and Confidential Space for Women to Explore Their Core Being

Learn how to build shame resilience, foster self-acceptance and embrace self-compassion. Build connections with other women on a similar healing journey. Reclaim your power and the love you want and deserve.

Starting on Monday January 25th 2020, this weekly online group offers women a safe and confidential space for a small group of women to explore their core sense of authentic, emotional intimacy.  Group time is 18:00 to 19:15 (Central European Time). Link to view more information.

Groups provide the perfect setting for us to learn more about ourselves, our relationship patterns and to understand better our emotions.  In summary, it is a space to realise that you are good enough.

One core emotion that groups help us understand is shame.  Men and women experience and process shame differently.  Brene Brown (2008) found twelve categories in which women struggle the most with feelings of shame. These include: appearance and body image, motherhood, family, parenting, money and work, mental and physical health, sex, aging, religion, being stereotyped and labelled, speaking out and surviving trauma.

We are all wounded.  We are all healing.  There are few better places to heal than with other kindred spirits in a facilitated group setting.

The group is facilitated by Gavin Sharpe thereby providing focus, safety and structure. Sessions typically begin with a short check-in, followed by a discussion topic.  The group is interactive with all members encouraged to participate and share.

This is a closed group.  To protect the safety and integrity of the group, a 6-week attendance commitment is required.  After that, members may leave the group or others may be invited to join.

Why Join A Group?

Most therapists including myself are passionate about groups.  I believe groups have the power to transform our lives.  So what’s the big deal?

For most people the idea of talking once a week to a therapist is frightening enough, never mind sharing one’s problems with a group of strangers.

Groups present an opportunity to change ourselves from within.  Groups create an opportunity for participants to safely do what they rarely do in real life – explore, experiment and play.  As trust and confidentiality are established, bonds form.  Participants are able to see their pain in others and vice versa.

In groups, we find ourselves learning about our relational patterns and identify in real time some of what has played out in our relationships and lives.  We experience our emotions intensely – discomfort, jealousy, fear, love, hate, boredom.  As the empathy builds, bonds form.

What springs from groups are sometimes lifelong bonds with other group members.

In many respects, groups are more effective than individual therapy.  There are simply more learning opportunities by virtue of the fact that there are more people.  The healing that takes place is remarkable.

I believe we are all wounded.  We are all healing.  There are few better places to heal than with other kindred spirits.
