The consignor of this collection is a meticulous collector of many things. Collecting is his greatest passion in life. So much so that he works as the head curator for several museums. Yes, the same attention to detail that he brings to his work as a curator, he has brought to his whisky collecting over the past 30 years. You should expect bottles in superb condition when bidding in this sale. Almost every bottle in this sale has been purchased direct from the distilleries, independent bottlers or local importers. No secondary market finds here!

As a true lover of Whisky our consignor is happy to share what is one of the most extensive spirits collection Zachys has ever sold in Europe, with over 360 bottles of Whisky from all over world.

Club Vivanova Partners for a Retrospective of Contemporary Greek-American Artist Philip Tsiaras ‘Superdot’ Series to be Exhibited in London for First Time

Varvara Roza Galleries and The Blender Gallery announce a solo exhibition of Dot Pop Portraits by Philip Tsiaras at Gallery 8 in Mayfair. The exhibition will showcase portraits of British political and Royal figures such as Winston Churchill, The Queen and Prince Philip, alongside legends from popular culture including opera diva Maria Callas, exotic painters Frida Kahlo and Salvador Dali, musical icons David Bowie, Jimi Hendrix, and Prince.

Tsiaras comes full circle, as a classic black and white photographer in his early career, to realize a new painterly language in realistic hand-dotted personas. His is the world of obsessive Pointillism with a love of portraiture – The DOT-- paired with popular iconography is infused with a myriad of painted multicolored coordinates, bordering on what Tsiaras calls “the scientific of sensualism”, or “in archaic terms, a modern Greco-Roman mosaic.”

The SUPERDOT exhibition is also a survey of Tsiaras’s dot-related works covering three decades of the use of the Dot in a wide variety of his subject matter. The retrospective’s main focus will be on his newest Dot portraits, alongside decades of other established bodies of dotted artworks. In particular his spiritually motivated “Circle of Life Series”, his heroic, idiosyncratic Horses, and his visceral figurative works, which the Metropolitan Museum bought as early as I983.

A surprise viewing of Tsiaras’ Crystal Guns, glass works which he produced in Murano over the past 10 years, will be peppered throughout the exhibition .

A full-length, new book entitled “Philip Tsiaras, THE SUPERDOT” published by Key Books will accompany the exhibition and features 200 color pages of the artist’s prolific, and extraordinary career.

The exhibition runs from 16th November to 7th December.

As we are in the midst of summer and the sunshine is in our favour, we recently had a joy to present our new collection to clients in Monaco at a terrace in a luxury villa with stunning view of Monaco. 

One of the highlights of our trip was a fun photoshoot in a company of talented and creative team and in collaboration with the Monaco’s legendary Le Meridien Beach Plaza hotel, whose wonderful team graciously hosted us at their terraces and verandas to capture our beautiful creations from the new collection.

MONOCHROME MAGIC IN BLUE, MINT AND LILAC

The palette for Glimmer was inspired in equal parts by pastel wildflowers, summer meadows and the cool rushing waters of a bustling brook. Hues of mint and lilac are imbued with flashes of gold and silver to deliver a shimmering lustrous look.

The collection makes good use of the ethereal whimsy of silk, chiffon and organza with a Jacquard pattern applied over its base. The result is a capsule collection which reveals hidden depths to the designs as the wearer moves.

COLLABORATIVE PHOTOSHOOT AT THE LEGENDARY 
LE MERIDIEN BEACH PLAZA IN MONACO

The collection was shot at the terraces of Monte Carlo’s legendary resort hotel Le Meridien Beach Plaza by photographer Dariia Kovalevskaya and Videographer Theo Pitout. The collaboration comes on the heels of Safiro’s day at the races. A headline stealing outing to Royal Ascot where the label won national coverage in The Daily Mail, The Daily Express, Forbes, Metro and more.

If you’ve been following our colleagues in our Hong Kong and United States sale rooms you know how much great wine there is on the market right now. We’ve had our annual partnership with La Paulée, our first-ever Spirits-only auctions, and set hundreds of world records along the way. We are in the middle of an unbelievably busy June, with our partnership with Premiere Napa Valley, and the sales of wines from such collecting luminaries as George Caloyannidis and Tawfiq Khoury. I’m delighted to continue along this path of success with this sale.

Not only do we have wine from Pioneers, an offering now being sold on its third con- tinent, we have an amazing consignment from right here on the continent. Starting on lot 34, this is the same consignment sold earlier in the year as the “DRC Only” sale in New York (there’s additional wine here, not just DRC). Following this consignment is the heart of this auction, at lot 50. This consignment is all about the Burgundy, with easily the largest offering of DRC we have ever sold at Zachys Europe! There’s also Dugat-Py, Faiveley, Trapet, Mugnier, and many more.

Later in the auction is a wonderful group of Mascarello, which graces the cover of this catalog, and it wouldn’t be a London sale without an amazing offering of Chartreuse starting at lot 324.
